Children and Baggage

In accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, children aged 0 to 5 years are accepted for carriage only when accompanied by an adult passenger.
One adult passenger (of legal age) may carry one child under two years of age (without providing a separate seat) free of charge on domestic flights, and with a 90% discount on the adult fare for international flights.

Please note that special entry rules apply on international flights, requiring passengers to independently complete health questionnaires.

At what age can children travel by air?

Babies can be transported by air as early as 7 days after birth. However, it is advisable to follow doctors' recommendations and check whether the flight will be safe for the child.
If it is necessary to send a child alone from point A to point B, the following age groups are accepted for accompanied flights:
  • Within Russia and CIS countries — children aged 5 to 12;
  • To non-CIS destinations — children aged 6 to 12.
The airline can also provide accompaniment for children over 12 years of age at the parents' request.
The "Unaccompanied Minor" service is chargeable.

How to fly with a newborn baby?
Newborn babies are accepted for air transportation in accordance with doctors' recommendations, at the age of seven days or older.

You can take child-carrying devices (baby bassinet, child restraint systems/devices for children under two years, car seats, etc.) free of charge, provided their dimensions do not exceed 55*40*20 cm for all fare types. For safety reasons, restraint devices cannot be placed on passenger seats, so child-carrying devices can be placed either in the overhead bin or under the seat in front.

Passengers with infants are provided with the safest seats on the aircraft – middle seats in a row.

For the baby's safety, infants should always be held with their head facing the window.
A passenger may book a separate seat for an infant – in this case, the ticket is issued as for a child under 12 years old.

What documents are needed for traveling with a child?
For domestic flights within Russia, children under 14 years old require a birth certificate.
If traveling to another country, the child will need a passport.
When a minor Russian citizen crosses the state border of the Russian Federation accompanied by one parent, consent from the other parent is not required unless the border authorities have received a statement of objection from that parent regarding the child's departure from Russia. No additional documents confirming kinship are required.
If a minor Russian citizen travels abroad unaccompanied by parents, adoptive parents, guardians, or trustees, they must have, in addition to their passport, a notarized consent from the aforementioned persons for the minor's departure, indicating the duration of travel and the destination country(ies). Consent from one parent is sufficient if no objection has been received from the other parent regarding the child's unaccompanied departure from Russia.

What can I take on board for free for my baby?
All active fares include hand luggage for infants — 1 bag weighing up to 10 kg. This bag can contain baby food, diapers, and toys.
You can also take child-carrying devices (baby bassinet, child restraint systems/devices for children under two years, car seats, etc.) free of charge, provided their dimensions do not exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm and can be safely stowed in the aircraft cabin (either in the overhead bin or under the seat in front).

Are bassinets provided on board for infants?
Bassinets are not provided during the flight. Infants must remain in the adult's arms at all times.

Strollers cannot be taken into the aircraft cabin due to safety requirements — they may fall, obstruct passenger service, block aisles or emergency exits, etc.

Can I combine my baggage with my infant's baggage?

Yes, baggage combination is possible.

If you and your infant (0-2 years) have tickets issued under the Economy / Economy Boost fare, with your baggage allowance being 23 kg and the infant's being 10 kg, you can combine baggage into one piece weighing no more than 30 kg.

Can I take my child to the plane in a stroller?
At check-in, passengers must inform airport staff in advance if they wish to take their child to the plane in a stroller. This can be done at the check-in counter.
Depending on the departure airport's capabilities, passengers may be asked to check in the stroller immediately as baggage or to take it to the aircraft and then check it in (strollers are not allowed in the cabin).
The stroller is carried free of charge in addition to the standard baggage allowance for passengers with children.
Subsequently, if technically possible, the stroller will be returned to the passenger at the aircraft steps upon arrival. If this is not possible, it will be available with the rest of the baggage.

Stroller dimensions for carriage as hand luggage
Only strollers that comply with hand luggage dimensions can be taken as hand luggage.
Dimensions: 55 x 40 x 20 cm,
up to 115 cm in total for all three
dimensions (L x W x H) for all fare types.
You may use the stroller in the airport. At check-in, passengers must inform staff if they wish to take their child to the plane in a stroller.

I want to send my child alone. How do I do this?
Ural Airlines staff can accompany your child during the flight.
The airline accepts unaccompanied minors on flights:

  • Purchase an airline ticket for the child at the adult fare;
  • Complete an Unaccompanied Minor form in 4 copies: indicate departure and arrival points, child's details, sender's details, receiver's details, etc.;
  • Pay for the service.
The accompanying adult is advised to remain at the airport until the flight departs.
Only the person specified in the Unaccompanied Minor form can collect the child at the arrival airport. The receiver must present valid identification.
